Name the achievement accurately
Check the qualification, course title and graduation year before adding them to a design. There is no need to include grades or a full university name if that makes the wording crowded. ‘You put the work in’ or ‘A well-earned tea break’ celebrates effort without comparing the graduate with anyone else. For someone who has returned to study later in life, use the same proud, grown-up tone you would for any graduate.
Choose a portrait you can order in time
If the gift is for graduation day, use a favourite existing photo and let the graduation pattern provide the cap-and-celebration detail. You can make another design later from a ceremony portrait if you prefer. For a gown photograph, check that the mortarboard does not hide the eyes and that the face is evenly lit. Avoid tiny figures in a large group: one clear graduate should be the focus of the mug.
Give them something for the next routine
Think about the home, workspace or kitchen they are heading to next. Blue with graduation motifs gives a clear celebration look, while stars and their favourite colour can make the design feel less tied to one day. A comic portrait suits a lively message; original photo or watercolour can feel more understated. Each 11oz ceramic mug is £15 including VAT, with free UK delivery in 1–2 working days. Review the finished name and course details before approving your order.
