Example portraits and mug mockups are illustrations. Your mug uses the photo, text and artwork you approve.
A clear portrait from a holiday, celebration or relaxed weekend can work better than a busy Christmas-party group shot. Faces should still be identifiable when the design is printed on an 11oz mug. Use the original image rather than a compressed screenshot if you have it. Crop distracting background carefully and keep the head and important details inside the design.
An original photograph preserves the moment. A watercolour or winter portrait changes it into an illustration. If you try a generated character, compare it with the source and inspect facial features and hands before approving. The example mugs show fictional portraits, so Mum’s own result only appears after you upload and create her design.
Choose Mum, Mam, Mummy, Mama or her first name—whichever she likes. “Mum’s Christmas cuppa” gives a simple seasonal title, while “Thank you for the Christmas magic” acknowledges her effort. From grandchildren, use the family’s preferred grandparent name instead of assuming Grandma or Nan. A short, accurate caption is more personal than a generic paragraph of praise.
Let children help choose a colour or suggest a short line, then an adult can check spelling and place the order. If the design uses a child’s photograph, only upload it when you have permission to do so. Do not include school details, a home address or other unnecessary private information in the artwork. The ceramic mug is for an adult recipient; it is not a toy.
Use snowflakes or a winter colour when she likes seasonal touches. Keep a simple background and leave off “Christmas 2026” if the mug should feel right on the kitchen shelf in spring. You can put a familiar name and memory at the centre while choosing a festive pattern around it. Preview both sides so the portrait and lettering have room to breathe.
Mum, Dad, a grandparent and a sibling can each have a different photo and style. Add all four approved designs to the same basket for £45, including VAT and free UK delivery. One mug costs £15. You can keep up to four uploaded images in the studio while making separate designs. Check names individually and use one checkout address, or place separate orders for different destinations.
